Deià: a small, artistic village in Mallorca where the product ideas of studio SOMMER have its origin

Deià has always been considered a true oasis for artists who devote themselves to the picturesque landscape of Mallorca and let art speak from their heart. Deià is located in the northwest of Mallorca and is surrounded by the wooded peaks of the Tramuntana mountains. The scenery is simply gorgeous and it's not far to the sea.

When we were there in 2020 for the first time in March, we were immediately inspired by the atmosphere and started dreaming. At that time, a woman had worked with clay in an open studio and I was fascinated by this art and the creation of her objects. Her pieces were unique and at the same time simple and timeless. From there the idea was born to participate in the creation of such pieces and give free rein to my creativity.

When we spent some more time there in the summer of 2022, I was even more excited. The cafe and restaurant "de moniö" welcomed us with a vegetarian kitchen served on handmade ceramics. Orzo salad, gaspacho and a bread with the most aromatic tomatoes I have ever eaten.
They also sell handmade ceramic pieces there. If you stray further into the narrower streets of Deia, you will encounter majorkiners and not mass tourists, but people who are looking for something special. It is an inspiration for artists from all over the world and all genres.

Cala Deià is also worth a visit: here is the restaurant "Ca's Patro March", a rustic seafood restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, a high level of tourism also takes place here. The fresh seafood options there are incredible, but if it's too crowded, it's also worth visiting "Son Mico", an alfresco café run by two French sisters. It is set in an amazing farmhouse-style building on top of a nearby hill in the bay, serving homemade cakes and freshly-squeezed juices.

The DEIA series with its blue spots is a reminder of a summer in Deia, Mallorca and the azure sea.
